This week marks a major milestone for Skips & Scrap Recycling, as the business celebrates five years of operation.
Founded in 2021 by third-generation waste management professional Grady Kamper, Skips & Scrap Recycling has grown from a bold new venture into a leading regional force across Newcastle, the Hunter Region, Port Stephens, Lake Macquarie and the Central Coast NSW.
Built on Experience. Driven by Vision.
Waste management is more than a business for Grady; it’s a legacy.
Coming from decades of family experience in skip bin hire and recycling, he had a solid foundation to build from. His father, Anthony Kamper, successfully built multiple skip bin and waste management businesses from the ground up.
Armed with both industry heritage and modern business insight, Grady launched Skips & Scrap with a clear goal: create a service-driven, locally focused waste management company that delivers reliability, scale and genuine customer care.
Five years on, that vision is not only intact – it’s expanding.
Strategic Growth Across the Region
In January last year, Skips & Scrap acquired the BINGO Industries Central Coast and Newcastle B&D Skips businesses, a strategic move that significantly increased operational capacity and enhanced service offerings across the Central Coast and Newcastle regions.
The result?
Greater fleet strength. Faster deliveries. Improved turnaround times. Expanded infrastructure.
Front Lift Bin Services
Then in August 2025, Grady invested further in the future of the company, expanding into Front Lift Bin Services, delivering a complete, all-in-one waste solution for commercial clients.
Perfect for:
- Shops & Retail
- Warehouses
- Industrial Sites
- Offices
This investment introduced greater convenience, cost-efficiency and reliability for businesses across the region, reinforcing Skips & Scrap as a comprehensive waste partner, not just a skip bin provider.
A Unique Perspective From Both Sides of the Industry
Grady’s journey wasn’t limited to waste management alone.
“Before committing fully to the industry, I studied business and explored other career paths, including carpentry and building. That experience gave me a valuable perspective. I’ve seen waste management from the construction side and from the service side. Understanding both helps us meet in the middle and genuinely support our customers’ needs.”
Grady Kamper
That balanced perspective, combined with business studies and an innate entrepreneurial drive, has shaped the company’s strategic growth and customer-first approach.
Guided by Experience, Driven by Passion
Grady openly acknowledges the advantage of having seasoned mentors in his corner.
“Having Dad and other experienced industry mentors guiding me has been invaluable. Their knowledge, combined with our team’s drive and willingness to invest in better infrastructure, gives us a real edge.”
His strategic investment into fleet and facilities, including a specialised recycling plant along with service expansion, reflects not only sound business planning, but a genuine passion for the waste and recycling industry.
Some would say it’s in his blood.

A Local Success Story, Built for the Long Haul
Reaching five years in business is a significant achievement in any industry. Doing so while expanding across multiple regions and service lines speaks volumes.
Skips & Scrap is proudly based on the Central Coast and in Tomago (Newcastle region), with Grady and his family still living locally on the Central Coast. Despite its scale and capacity, the business remains deeply connected to the community it serves.
This milestone isn’t just about longevity; it’s about momentum.
The continued growth, infrastructure investment and service expansion demonstrate that Skips & Scrap isn’t just celebrating five years, it’s building for the long haul.
Watch this space.
As Skips & Scrap Recycling marks its fifth anniversary this week (officially 29 March 2026), we congratulate Grady, his family, predecessors and the dedicated team behind the operation, a group making a tangible difference in the waste management sector and building a commercial enterprise that is truly a local success story.
And the growth doesn’t stop there.
New expansion and improvements are already in the works; a new purpose-built specialty sorting plant at one of the Tomago depots. This investment into advanced sorting operations will further increase capacity, improve efficiency and strengthen the company’s recycling capabilities across the Hunter and Central Coast regions.
Here’s to the next chapter!
